Mayor Rosamilia: Troy public pools to open Friday

Mayor Lou Rosamilia has announced that the City of Troy’s public swimming pools will be opening for the summer on Friday, June 27 at 1 p.m.

“We are excited to open the pools for the summer season,” said Mayor Rosamilia. “It’s the time of year when temperatures begin to climb and kids are getting out of school for break. The South Troy and Knickerbacker Pools provide our residents and families with a little-to-no cost way to spend some time together and get relief from the heat.”

Both the South Troy and Knickerbacker Pools will be open to the public seven days a week from 1 pm until 5:30 p.m. to city residents. There will be no cost for swimmers under the age of 16 and individuals over the age of 16 will be charged $1.

Beginning on July 7, the South Troy Pool will have evening swimming hours from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m Monday through Friday. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays  will be reserved for adults (18+), Tuesdays will be reserved for infants and toddlers (under age of 4) and Thursdays will be reserved for families. There will be no charge for these hours.

Free swimming lessons for children will also be held at the South Troy Pool beginning at 10 am until noon Monday through Friday starting on July 14.

Additionally, the Mayor has announced that all four of the City of Troy’s spray pools are now open for the season. The spray pools are located at Corliss Park, Frear Park, Knickerbacker Park and Prospect Park.
