2022 to 2023 Paving (CHIPs)

Since 2016, the City of Troy has paved over 32 miles of roadways, accounting for 22 percent of the city’s 148 miles of streets and alleyways. In the next 12 months (2022 to 2023), an additional $10M in roadway improvements are planned to upgrade 12.5 miles of streets.

The City's annual paving program receives funds from New York State, including the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS), PAVE-NY, Extreme Winter Recovery (EWR), and State Touring Routes (STR) programs. In addition to the scheduled roadway improvements, these funds can also be used for signalization and pedestrian safety improvements like striping and crosswalks, drainage, and sidewalks.

In 2022 to 2023, the city plans to pave an historic 12.5 miles of streets in neighborhoods across Troy, part of the administration's ongoing commitment to improve roadway conditions throughout the city. Engineering staff is currently coordinating with local utility companies and City departments to finalize the 2022 to 2023 paving schedule. Street closures and detours will be announced on local media in advance.
