Program Grants

The City of Troy helps to administer and / or partners with a number of local agencies who may provide grants or loans, along additional services that can help you with buying, selling, maintaining and / or fixing up a home. Listed below are a number of resources that could be helpful for City of Troy residents.

CDBG Programs

Exterior Enhancement Program

The Exterior Enhancement Program aims to eliminate housing deficiencies by providing financial and technical assistance to homeowners in a designated target area. Grant amounts may not exceed $5,000 and can only be applied to homeowner occupied residences. If the cost of repair exceeds the grant amount, the homeowner can contribute to the balance of expenses incurred over $5,000 to complete the necessary repair.

Program availability may be limited to funding, grant cycle or type of repair needed.

Home Programs

Learn about the City of Troy's 'Home Incentive' Program (H.I.P).

This program now administered by Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (TRIP) helps to promote homeownership in Troy for low-income homebuyers. Eligible applicants must have an annual household income at the time of application under 80% of the median. Interested applicants should contact the TRIP Neighbor Works Home Ownership Center at 518-690-0020 or visit the TRIP Site.

Homebuyer Orientation

This is the place to start if you want to buy a home! We'll talk about the advantages and disadvantages of homeownership, qualifying for a mortgage, and costs you'll incur in the homebuying process. You'll also learn about our Pre-Purchase Program and First Time Homebuyer Grants.
