Mayor Mantello Announces $5.8 Million in NY SWIMS Funding

City News Posted on August 29, 2024

A statement from Mayor Mantello on the $5.8 million investment from the NY SWIMS program:

"As someone who grew up in Lansingburgh, I know first-hand how critical Knickerbacker Park is to the Lansingburgh and Troy community. As Council President, I along with the City Council, worked hard to dedicate ARPA funding for the demolition of the old Knick Pool and next steps towards construction of the new Knick Pool Complex. The Governor’s announcement of nearly $6 million for the Knick Pool Complex today is huge and will continue moving forward our goal to open the Knick Pool Complex next year. This Complex is more than a pool- it is a destination coupled with the newly revived Knick Ice Arena, new playgrounds, including a handicapped accessible playground, new amphitheater and other family-friendly attractions.

This is all about partnerships. We thank Governor Hochul, Assembly Member John McDonald and Senator Jake Ashby for their continued commitment to the City of Troy. We look forward to everyone joining us next year for the grand opening of one of our major community landmarks."
