Mayor Mantello Announces Operation Refresh 2025

(Troy, NY) – Today, Mayor Carmella R. Mantello announced “Operation Refresh” for the spring of 2025. Operation Refresh coincides with the city’s Spring-Cleaning schedule that advises residents on the dates, times, and location of street and alleyway cleaning throughout the city. Starting Monday April 14th, Quality-of-life Action Crews will begin Operation Refresh that will include street cleaning, deep cleaning of alleyways, and rejuvenating city parks.

“As the temperature begins to rise, we are kicking off Operation Refresh that will continue to build on our administration’s commitment to keeping Troy safe and clean. Building pride in our city is not possible with safe and clean streets, neighborhoods, and community spaces,” said Mayor Mantello. “I am so thankful to our Quality-of-Life Action Crews for their hard work and dedication to beautifying our city. But this is not just an effort made possible by them; it takes our whole community. I encourage everyone to follow the spring-cleaning schedule to ensure that your cleanup material such as leaves, and debris are in a pile on the curb so they can be picked up as well as following city signage for parking restrictions.”

Crews will come through neighborhoods both on foot and in their vehicles to thoroughly clean each street and alleyway. ‘No parking’ signs will be posted the day before and they will be removed as they finish each street. Residents are encouraged to put leaves and debris in a pile on the curb the night before their designated cleaning day.

In addition to traditional spring-cleaning efforts, the city is also offering free bulk trash drop offs at the Alamo on Friday, April 11th, and Saturday May 3rd from 9:00am – 1:00pm. There are no U-Haul’s, trailers, hazardous waste, electronics (TVs accepted), tires, paint or construction materials allowed during the free bulk trash drop off dates. The city reserves the right to deny entry to anyone at these events. Another way residents can help keep our city safe and clean is sponsoring an Earth Week Cleanup which takes place from April 21st – April 27th. Details on Erath Week can also be found on the City of Troy’s website.

The full spring street-cleaning & alley-way cleaning schedule can be found here on the City of Troy’s website.

Other beautification efforts this spring include:

  • Remove dilapidated entrance gate to Prospect
  • New large sign for South Troy Pool
  • Paint city trash receptacles
  • Paint graffiti on city property
  • Paint parking meters that need it
