Elevator Registry

The NYS division of Code Enforcement and Administration [Section 606.1] requires all local Municipalities to ensure that all elevators and related equipment are inspected every 6 months and tested every 12 months by a qualified elevator inspector who meets qualifications of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).

The owner shall be responsible for paying for and providing for the elevator inspection, testing and third party monitoring. All resulting reports shall be furnished to the City of Troy by the owner of the building. Property owners must register all:

  • Elevators (passenger and freight)
  • Escalators
  • Dumb waiters
  • Interior and exterior stair chairlifts
  • Handicap wheelchair lifts
  • All related elevator equipment in public and private facilities and material lifts.

Important: Please be sure to complete a separate form for each elevator or lift.
