Household Hazardous Waste Events

Household Hazardous Waste Items

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is a product or item in your home which can be dangerous, toxic, or otherwise unsafe. These items are typically labeled as flammable, corrosive (damages metals and skin), or toxic. Common items include paints, pesticides, gasoline, and pool chemicals.

Recycling Paint

While your paint will be accepted at our household hazardous disposal events, you may also bring them to over 200 retail locations in New York State year-round. This program is part of PaintCare, a state-wide paint recycling program which began in May of 2022.

These retailers will accept oil-based, latex, and other paint-related products free of charge. For a complete list, and to find a location near you, visit paintcare.org.
