Weekly household garbage should be placed out to the curb or in the alley after 7 pm the night before your pick up day, or before 6 am the day of your pick up. Household garbage is primarily food or other organic waste and food packaging.
Garbage and waste must be placed in a water-tight plastic container and may not be placed at the curb in a plastic or paper bag. Please see associated pages for proper handling of recyclables and yard materials. If animals manage to break open the trash container, it is the responsibility of the resident to clean up the trash.
To find out when your household garbage is scheduled to be picked up call the Public Works dispatcher at 518-270-4579.
Your physical address will determine when garbage and recycling is collected at your property. Find your collection day using the maps below:
Remember that legal holidays can affect the weekly garbage pick up schedule. There will be no garbage and recycling pickup on the following days (unless otherwise specified):
- New Year's Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- July 4th
- Christmas Day
Recyclable items will be collected on the next business day following the holiday.
If your household garbage is not picked up on your scheduled day, please call the Public Works dispatcher immediately at 518-270-4579. Do not wait to call for a missed collection!
